Luchenza Police arrest man for trafficking girls

Luchenza Police has arrested a 35 year old man John Namakwa for trafficking 7 girls whose ages range from 16-23 after promising them to work in sugarcane fields.

The Police got a tip from members of the community that the suspect had taken the 7 girls and were heading to unknown destination.

The vehicle which they were using was intercepted and the victims were rescued. Meanwhile, the suspect is in custody and will appear in court on Monday to answer the charge of trafficking in persons.

All the rescued girls come from the area of Traditional Authority Kapichi in Thyolo while the suspect comes from Thangulira village in the area of Traditional Authority Mthiramanja in Mulanje.
