Supreme Court Grants Stay on Injunction Against Lilongwe-Salima Water Project Financing

Supreme Court Judge Dingiswayo Madise has granted a stay on the injunction obtained by the Forum for National Development (FND) against the government’s new financing arrangement to borrow K105 Billion for the Lilongwe-Salima water project.

Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda confirmed the development, stating that they had approached the Supreme Court to stay the order obtained by FND.

The judgment, delivered on May 22, directs an exparte hearing of the matter within 21 days.

This decision allows the government to proceed with its financing plans for the crucial Lilongwe-Salima water project.

Further updates will be provided as the matter progresses.
