Police have instituted an investigation to determine the cause of fire that has gutted down government offices in Lilongwe in the wee hours of Sunday.

The fire targeted the ministry of Lands and the office of the President and Cabinet, both housed in Tikwere house at city center.

Central West Region Police Publicist Alfred Chinthere, has confirmed the incident saying the fire brigade had been successful in containing the fire.

Chinthere further revealed that the police have initiated a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire and ascertain the extent of the destruction.
