Mob Burns Man to Death in Retaliation for Young Brother’s Death in Lilongwe

In a shocking incident that unfolded at Kasoni Village in the Chief Khongoni area of Lilongwe, an angry mob took the law into their own hands, burning a man to death. The mob accused the man, identified as Austin Fabiano Nkhoma, of being involved in the death of his young brother, Ledson Fabiano.

According to Group Village Headman Kasoni, tensions escalated after Ledson’s death from a liver problem at Jamie’s Central Hospital. The deceased was laid to rest on Sunday, but suspicion and resentment grew within the family, with some members pointing fingers at Austin, the elder brother.

The volatile situation reached its breaking point when the angry mob, driven by anger and grief, set Austin ablaze as an act of revenge for Ledson’s demise. Additionally, the mob also destroyed the house of the deceased, further exacerbating the tense atmosphere in the village.

The local leader, Group Village Headman Kasoni, provided details of the incident and expressed concern over the escalation of violence. However, the police are yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter.
