The government has finally bowed down to pressure to transfer four senior officials at Mchinji District Hospital following protests by health workers.
In a letter issued yesterday and signed by the Executive Secretary for Local Government Service Commission, Berlings Kumpata, the government, has transferred Director of Health and Social Services Dr. Juliana Kanyengambeta to the Reproductive Health Unit to work as deputy director, while Neema Uzeni Phiri has been sent to Kamuzu Central Hospital to continue performing as Principal Nursing and Midwifery Officer.
The other two officials are Principal Health Services Administrator Develious Mwale who has transferred to Salima district council, while Human Resource Management Officer Dennis Munkhondia has been sent to Mzimba district council.
For about a month now, there have been misunderstandings between employees and the targeted four members of the management team at facility, who are being accused of practising nepotism and unprofessional conduct when discharging their duties.
