Chikwawa Police arrest one for robbery

Police in Chikwawa have arrested a man for allegedly robbing a businessman cash amounting to 7.8 Million Kwacha at Bereu Trading center.

The suspect has been identified as Timothy Francis 46, of Bereu Village Traditional Authority Maseya in Chikwawa District.

Timothy and his accomplices during the night of 21 February,2023 stormed into the house of a certain businessman at Bereu Trading centre and robbed him while armed with panga knives, axes and sticks.

The suspects had since been on the run until Chikwawa Police Station CID officers instituted massive investigations that led to Francis’s arrest.

After being interrogated he voluntarily admitted that he and other accomplices, who are still at large, robbed the businessman the said cash and smart cellphones valued at K925,000.

Meanwhile, a manhunt for other suspects is still underway.

Police are also urging all businesspersons in the district to avoid keeping huge sums of money in their houses to avoid being targeted by criminals.
