Secretary to the President and Cabinet (SPC) Colleen Zamba has snubbed the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, failing to turn up for a meeting at Parliament Building in Lilongwe.
The committee summoned Zamba to inquire about the operations of the civil service, including audit queries, ghost workers and a continued tendency by some civil servants of disregarding laid down procedures on public expenditure.
PAC Chairperson Mark Botomani has confirmed the snubbing in an interview with the press.
According to Botomani, Zamba did not communicate to the Speaker of Parliament and the committee on the reasons behind her failure to appear before the committee.
He said the committee will have to make a decision on how to proceed with the matter.
Effort to talk to Zamba proved futile.
