Police in Salima are holding a 67-year-old woman in custody for allegedly defiling and infecting a 12-year-old boy with sexually transmitted infections.

The suspect, Namaseko John, from Tisauka Village, T/A Kalonga in Salima, was arrested after she allegedly assaulted the boy whom she had convinced to help her with household chores.

According to Jacob Khembo, Salima police spokesperson, the incident is believed to have occurred between April 19th and 20th of this month.

The boy was later found to have been infected with sexually transmitted infections, and John was subsequently arrested.
