DPP leadership wrangles of-putting youth involvement in politics

The Young Politicians Union (YPU) has described the ongoing leadership wrangles in the main opposition Democratic Progressive Party as a deterrent towards youth involvement in politics.

YPU is joining various stakeholders who have voiced out their opinions on developments in which some party members have endorsed former President Peter Mutharika as their leader ahead of the party’s convention.

Clement Makuwa President of YPU has said that events in the part will in the long run make some party members from competing for the high seat thereby defeating the very same principles of democracy on which it was founded on.

According to Makuwa youths and other people that do not subscribe to party politics might as well opt to distance themselves from the party due to what he termed lack of intraparty democracy
