ACB arrests Chief Mwawa of Mangochi for demanding money from AIP beneficiaries

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested Group Village Headwoman Mwawa, from the area of Traditional Authority Jalasi in Mangochi district for abuse of public office.

According to ACB’s principal public relations officer, Egrita Ndala on January 23, 2023, ACB received a complaint alleging that the Group Village Headwoman was demanding and receiving K2,000.00 from every beneficiary of Affordable Input Program in her jurisdiction to redeem the fertilizer.

Ndala said their investigations established that the chief whose real name is Alice White, demanded and received K54,000 from 27 beneficiaries from Nyungwa Village.

She said White will be taken to court after the Bureau has recorded a caution statement the suspect.
