Cyclone Freddy survivors to leave camps in Blantyre

Tropical Cyclone Freddy survivors in Blantyre are expected to move out of the camp to their homes on Tuesday 18 April 2023.

The survivors can breathe a sigh of relief as the Minister of Homeland Security has advised people living in disaster prone areas to move away saying they will be given opportunity to get loans.

The Apostle Clifford Kawinga of CK cold storage through Homeland Security Minister, Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma donated a cattle and k500,000 to volunteers who have helped tropical cyclone Freddy survivors at Naotcha evacuation camp in Blantyre.

Ng’oma attributed the gesture as part of Tigwirane manja campaign which was launched by the state president Dr Lazarus Chakwera in order to respond to victims of Cyclone Freddy survivors.

” These people lost their properties, so it is good that NEEF should give such people loans for them to start businesses”, Ng’oma explained.

Ng’oma made a courtesy call at the camp recently where he donated his salary and assorted food items to the Tropical Cyclone Freddy survivors.
