A 68-year-old man has been killed in Mulanje and police have launched a manhunt for the assailants in connection to the murder.

The deceased has been identified as Lyton Thomas from Nankwakwala Village in the area of Traditional Authority Nkanda in the district.

The incident occurred on the night of March 27, 2023 at Nankwakwala Village in the district.

Salani John, 19, reported to police that his uncle was found lying dead in his house after being attacked by unknown criminals.

In the process, officers from Mulanje Criminal Investigations Department (CID) rushed to the scene together with a medical practitioner from Chambe Health Centre who pronounced death as due to loss of blood as confirmed from the hospital and reasons behind the killing is yet to be known

Meanwhile, police in the district are appealing to communities around Mulanje to assist the law enforcers with any information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
