Rumphi Hospital Security Supervisor Arrested for Possession of Medical Drugs Without Permission

Rumphi police have arrested a 38-year-old man, Lebohagi Banda, for being found in possession of medical drugs without permission. According to Sergeant Tupeliwe Kabwilo, the Rumphi Police station spokesperson, the incident happened on March 27, 2023, at the district’s hospital.

Banda was working as a security supervisor at the hospital under Sizanani Security agency, and he is suspected to have a tendency of taking drugs, especially during lunch hours, while others are out for lunch. Authorities at the facility were following his movements upon noticing his behavior.

On the said date, one of the workers saw him carrying a laptop bag where he carried assorted drugs, including 30 Lumefantrine Arthemeter (LA) for adults, 30 Lumefantrine Arthemeter for children, 2000 Co-trimaxazole tablets, 1000 Amoxillin capsules, and 1000 Doxycycline capsules.

Banda has been taken into custody, and the police have launched an investigation into the matter.

The suspect comes from Kamwendo Village under Traditional Authority Kachere in Dedza district.
