Malawian women’s football star Tabitha Chawinga on Saturday netted her 17th goal to tighten her grip at the summit of the Italian Women’s Serie A scorers’ chart.
The Scorchers captain scored Inter Milan’s consolation goal when they went down 3-1 to second-placed Juventus.
Juve took the lead in the 15th minute through Linda Sembrant before Sara Gunnarsdottie doubled the lead in the 69th minute.

Tabitha reduced the arrears in the 88th minute, but Juve killed off any notions of an equaliser when Barbara Bonansea scored the third two minutes later.
In an interview yesterday, the 26-year-old Tabitha admitted that they were up against a good side.
She said: “They are not on second position by chance. Juve are a very good side.
“When we scored, we felt we would grab a late equaliser, but alas! It was Juve who went on to score another goal. So, not the result we wanted, but we will keep fighting.”
Inter are third with 35 points from 19 matches, 16 points behind leaders Roma and 11 adrift of Juve.
The top two teams in the Poule Scudeto will qualify for the Women’s Uefa Champions League.
The second leading scorer, Juventus’ Cristina Girelli, who won the golden boot last season, trails Tabitha by four goals.
