Why love is blind

Listen

Every time someone announces their interest in someone of the opposite sex, there are always people who play judge and the jury, condemning one from the other. They claim to do that to ‘protect’ their close affiliate in the relationship. An inflow if information is exchanged between party to party about the couple in love. There will be those who will discourage either of the two from pursuing their love interest for reasons best know to the bearer of the news. Ndi huletu iwe ameneyo, chimbayambaya chikupha! Alitu ndi ana azibambo folo, ukuyesanji? Ndi wamkulutu. Ndi mbava. Anali ku ndende zaka zaka. Akukhalabe mnyumba mwa mwakolo ake. Alibe kalikonse. Anavulala kale amene uja ndipo engine anamanga kalekale. Kwawo ndi afiti. Si type yaketu koma. Amakodza pabedi ameneyu. Ngokwatilakwatila, etc.

Of course, others offer some ‘positive’ news, especially where wealth is involved. Amene uja ngwa dola, usamutaye. Chimagula mowa heve. She/he is very connected. Ali pa vepi ya bo. Amadziwa kukonda, mamamama. Akuphunzitsila ana, gwilitsa.

When it comes to tying the knot, those with interest in either parties will be like; atisunga amenewa? Ndiobeleka koma? Nthawi yonseyi amatani osakwatiwa/ kukwatila? Sanampepetule wathuyu? Ndiobeleka ameneuja chimimba chonsechija? Watopela pa mwanapa. Ine mbamba, sukalimba uwu.

But who made anyone an expert in matters of the heart? Who are we to judge what or who anyone decided to fall in love with? Do we know what attracts people to each other? Do we even understand how they met or their circumstances herein? Do we even know what binds the two?

Love is mysterious, but even more so, blind. Many that are quick to judge and condemn are in failed relationships or alone. Nobody understands why or how entity A ends up with entity B. On a personal note, many are still dumbfounded as to what they are still doing with the person that has taken them to hell and back. Still holding on to an obviously dead love which relations are tired of pumping sense over.

There are people with nothing to do, but muse over businesses that do not concern them. It is these holier than thous who overrate their opinions. Let lovers be. We cannot control everyone or their choices. If one decide to date or marry someone double or triple their age, it is their choice. If one wants to marry an ex-con, so what? If a graduate picks a vendor, ndiyeno? If she or he picks a career bride or groom, leave them. If one wants that man or woman with plenty children, musiyeni. Love is blind and we can never know or understand why things happen. Don’t judge.
