22-year-old man arrested for possession and usage of fake bank notes in Mchinji

Police in Mchinji have arrested a 22-year-old man over possession and usage of fake bank notes.

Mchinji Police Publicist Limbani Mpinganjira has identified the suspect as Steven Yakobe.

According to Mpinganjira, the suspect bought some items from a shop at Kamwendo trading centre using K5,000 note which the owner of the shop suspected was fake.

Mpinganjira adds that the suspect was arrested the same day after the matter was reported to police.

He further discloses that the suspect was also found with fake bank notes amounting to K20,000.

The suspect will appear in court to answer charges of being found in possession of forged bank notes which is contrary to section 366 of the Penal Code and section 54 (B) of the Reserve Bank of Malawi act of 2018 respectively.

The suspect hails from Katoleza Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mpama in Chiradzulu district.
