ACB URGES CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS TO MONITOR PROCUREMENT OF RELIEF ITEMS FOR THE CYCLONE VICTIMS

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has urged Civil Society Organizations to critically monitor the procurement of various relief items for victims of the Cyclone Freddy.

The sentiment comes against a background of lapses in procurement processes especially during crises and emergencies.

According to ACB Director ,Martha Chizuma in times like these, people take advantage of the crises to enrich themselves at the expense of the marginalized through dubious procurements.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director for of Nyika Institute, Moses Mkandawire has confirmed that a lot of public funds is lost through procurement thus imploring other CSO’S not to relent in providing checks and balances on government procurement processes during these difficult times
