Relief for Malawi As Cyclone Freddy Successfully Diffused

The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services has announced that cyclone Freddy, which hit some parts of Malawi, has been successfully diffused.

This is a relief for the country, as the cyclone has caused significant damage to infrastructure and threatened the lives of many people in many districts including Blantyre, Mangochi, Mulanje and others.

The department has stated that the rainfall activities associated with the cyclone will reduce.

The department has also urged people to continue to exercise caution, as localised rains and thunderstorms are expected to continue due to the active inter tropical convergence zone over Malawi.

So far, 190 Malawians have lost their lives with 584 people currently injured and 37 reported missing.
