Gideon Munthali, a former Director of Information, has been sentenced to three years in prison for conspiracy to commit a felony and six years for theft by a public person.
The sentencing was delivered by High Court Judge Patrick Chirwa. The charges stem from the theft of 10 computers and a genset from the Ministry of Information.
Munthali was convicted in October of last year together with former Minister of Information, Henry Mussa.
The sentences will run concurrently, meaning that Munthali will serve a total of six years in prison.
