Students at Mzuzu Government Secondary School have today petitioned Northern Region Education Division Offices to look into what they describe as poor diet at the school.
The petition outlined a number of grievances towards school feeding diet.
According to School’s Head Girl, Sithembite Chalira, students at the school are only eating Nsima and beans throughout the week as they are no longer being served other meals which include rice and beef.
Speaking on the matter, Northern Region Education Division Manager, Jennings Kayira has confirmed that the problem is bisecting as beef suppliers stopped supplying for not being paid on time.
Kayira also added that this is so due to delays in processing of payment vouchers at the Accountant General’s office.
However, the Manager has assured the student that they are making some strategies that will put in place to accelerate the process.
Meanwhile, police officers have arrived on the scene to maintain peace and order as student chanted and singing songs.
