DPP Demand Lifting Of Naomi Kilekwa’s Parliament Suspension

Yesterday, parliament suspended Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator for Mulanje South East, Naomi Kilekwa for making noise and disturbing President Lazarus Chakwera’s State of National Address (SONA) on Friday.

Today, fellow DPP counterpart Bright Msaka has asked the asked the second deputy speaker, Aisha Adams to lift a 14-day suspension

According to Msaka, Kilekwa’s suspension is irregular and not in line with the standing orders of parliament.

He added that Kilekwa should have been handed a 2-day suspension instead.

Meanwhile, the second deputy speaker has promised to respond later in the day.
