Police hunting for Chamba grower in Mchinji

Police in Mchinji are hunting for 27-year-old Muhammad Banda, who is suspected to have been cultivating cannabis on a half acre piece of land in his backyard.

Mchinji Police Spokesperson, Limbani Mpinganjira says they were informed of the development by ‘well-wishers’.

“Upon noticing that the police had raided his cannabis field, the suspect bolted to the Zambian side. Police have so far managed to uproot about 200 Cannabis plants,” Mpinganjira says.

The uprooted plants will be taken to Chitedze Research Station for examination and analysis.

The suspect hails from Tikoliwe village, (along the Zambia-Malawi boundary), T/A Mlonyeni in Mchinji.
