Former Judiciary Spokesperson Mlenga Mvula Jailed for Corruption

Former Judiciary Spokesperson, Mlenga Mvula, has been sentenced to 30 months imprisonment with hard labour for soliciting money and other favours in the names of High Court Judges and the Attorney General’s office.

Justice Sylvester Kalembera, who presided over the case, sentenced Mr Mvula to 30 months imprisonment with hard labour on one of the charges, and suspended the remaining 8 charges.

United Methodist Church pastor Daniel Mhone, who was also implicated in the case, was given a suspended two-year sentence for his role in facilitating the bribery.

Mvula and Mhone were arrested in September 2017 and were convicted in November last year.
