DPP accuses MCP of blocking fundraising dinner and dance

The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has accused the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) of blocking the party from holding a fundraising dinner and dance at College of Medicine sports complex in the commercial capital Blantyre.

The opposition DPP was scheduled to hold the fundraising dinner and dance this coming Saturday where former President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of the party was scheduled to grace the event.

But according to the statement signed by DPP spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba, the dinner and dance has been postponed to a date yet to be announced.

“The DPP is shocked with the callous actions of the Government of Malawi Congress Party in threatening and subsequently stopping Malawi College of Medicine to host a duly contracted fundraising dinner dance,” said Namalomba in the statement.
