Man Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison for Attack on Health Workers in Cholera Camp in Balaka

38-year-old Achiloledye White Maulidi, a resident of Balaka, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison with hard labor or an option to pay a K200,000 fine for a violent attack at the Nandumbo Health Centre.

The incident took place two weeks ago and Maulidi was swiftly arrested by members of the Nandumbo community after he posed as a patient and carried out the brutal attack on two health workers at the center.

The First Grade Magistrate Lawrence Davie Mangani, sitting in Ulongwe, Balaka, handed down the sentence on two counts of malicious damage and causing bodily harm.
