Sharon Chirwa: Author of becoming a wise and noble woman

Staff Writer

Sharon Chirwa is a God-fearing young woman with a big heart and passionate about improving the wellbeing of women and girls.

On December 16 2022, she published a book titled

Becoming a Wise and Noble Woman.

In the book, she voices issues that women and girls face.

Sharon mentions divorce, loss of a loved one, abuse, harassment, spiritual issues and economic issues.

“I want to bring back women lives and the joy of womanhood despite life challenges. I was inspired by the Wise and Noble Woman movement which I host. I have been dealing with women and girls; and have learnt that as a woman, one has to work hard and choose to make her life better,” she said.

Sharon added that it’s not about just the physical appearance or material things that give one peace.

The author said peace comes from overcoming battles and circumstances that bother us every day.

“Peace is a choice of how you deal with issues. If one is at peace with herself, she will not settle for less, but will keep moving knowing better days will come,” she said.

The book targets everyone, including men, Christians and students.

“This is because through the disposition that people were created, we ought to understand each other and if we don’t, chaos begins.

“Chaos in this case can be divorce, heartbreaks and frustrations. For example, if one has qualifications for a particular job and doesn’t fond employment for years, what follows is frustration,” she beamed.

Sharon said when one is frustrated; it damages peace; hence, triggering suicide, cheating, alcohol and drug abuse.

She said understanding how people work and how they deal with issues is important; hence, the need to read the book.

“It has been an awesome journey, yet stressful. This is my debut book and I needed support, not just financial support, but balance and experience,” said Sharon.

The young woman loves to empower women, especially those who look down on themselves.

She gives them ideas on how life in general and financial help whenever she can.

Because of her passion for women, Sharon introduced a group of women called Wise and Noble Woman.

“We have women from all age groups. I teach them how to fight until they get positive results. No one has to give up on life just because of a problem that seems impossible to overcome, but can be solved by God himself.

“We teach each other how to become better. I believe everything we face in the physical life begins in the spirit realm,” she said.

Sharon observed that many women also struggle with love because marriages and relationships are distorted with cheating, abuse and greediness.

Her organisation teaches how women can balance life with work, business, marriage/relationship, career, social and spiritual dimensions.

She noted that women are passing through tough situations and a lot of them wear a smiley face while hurting on the inside.

“I chose girls and women because I believe a woman has discipline. When a woman says no, it means no and when she says yes, she means it.

“A woman is powerful and influential. Many times families go down when a woman goes down; churches remain idle when a woman gives up. Businesses crumble when a woman goes down. Once a woman tells her child something it always gets stuck in her,” she said.

Through her platform, Sharon has learned that most young women are under pressure to get married, to look good, have money and to have it all in life.

She said this leads to making unrealistic decisions that are regrettable after some time.

“So as a woman, I always teach my fellow ladies to know their worth and not let the world define who they are because Rome wasn’t built on a day,” she said.

Sharon said meeting different women with different experiences in life has been has been her greatest achievement.

“I have made friendships with different families and individuals which is a great milestone for me because I also learn along the way,” she said.

Growing up, she has always wanted to run an orphanage and to become a lawyer.

She believes when God gives someone a vision, one has to work and fight for it and this is exactly what she did.

During her teenage years, she would take part in some ministries, especially in the field of children and girls and for her, this was a confirmation.

That’s when she knew she would serve and she thanks God for what he has imparted in her.

She confessed that her dream is to reach to many women in future.

As of now, she attends to over 800 women and girls in various districts across Malawi.

“This is not about the numbers, but the impact, influence and lives we change. I hope to extend in reaching out orphans and more girls and women, teaching them skills and training them to make their lives to be meaningful.

“I aim to mend broken marriages and give them the true meaning of loving and being happy. I hope to speak for the voiceless and give hope to the hopeless. In the next five years, I hope to reach out to many people not only in Malawi, but the world at large. Influence is power and power is living,” she added.

Sharon is inspired by Joyce Meyer, Pastor Femi Adejumo Felix and Priscilla Shirley.

The young woman disclosed her secret to success is minding her own business, connecting to the right people and staying focused.

“Life is a mystery that is only covered by who surrounds you. If you move with foolish people, definitely foolishness becomes your portion.

“I make sure I cut off from all negative people in my life and rather focus on those who see a better part of me in my weakness. So each time I receive a critic, I use it for my betterment and continue moving,” she said.

Sharon added that when she started her ministry, which was the time she started advertising her book launch.

Sharon is a First born daughter in a family of two to Kelvin and Edith Chirwa. She is currently based in Kawale Township.

She has a bachelors degree in mass communication from the African Bible College obtained in 2017.

Since then, she has been working on influencing and counselling women and girls in her movement.

Her advice to women, especially girls is; that the choices they make will either make someone great or not.

“Your life is in your hands so you have to move in your own lane. No situation comes to anyone without its intended purpose; you will overcome,” she said.

Sharon loves to make new friends and work on new challenges.

“Life without battles or challenges is like living in a void world. I believe in making impact and having connections as we solve puzzles of life. I also love to be with my family,” she said.
