Democratic Progressing Party (DPP) lawmaker for Chikwawa North Owen Chomanika has said he has not yet considered his appointment as Deputy Minister of Local Government.
On Tuesday, President Lazarus Chakwera appointed Chomanika into his Cabinet, in a move that has surprised many considering that the legislator belongs to the main opposition DPP.
In a brief interview on Wednesday afternoon, Chomanika said he has just seen news about his appointment on social media.
He said he was encouraged that Chakwera has seen something in him that could help contribute to the development of Malawi, despite him being an opposition lawmaker.
“But don’t ask me whether I accept the appointment or not. I am yet to sit down and consider it,” Chomanika said.
