Limbe police has confirmed the missing of three children from Mpaso village, T/A Chimaliro in Thyolo who drowned in Chimvu River on Wednesday afternoon.

One has been identified as Estere Ngombingo aged 11.

Spokesperson for the policing area, Patrick Mussa said, “It is believed that the children who are aged between 10 and 14 were learners at Chimvu Primary School in the area of Traditional Authority Chimaliro”.

Village Headman Mpaso said five children were returning from school and attempted to cross the river, one of them stayed back and reported the incident to the Authorities.

According to Mpaso, some clothes have been recovered and their parents have identified them.

A search and rescue mission is still underway downstream.
