Zamm Investment through its Cool Drop water brand has sponsored top golfer Paul Chidale’s trip to Kenya for the Pros Golf Tour to the tune of K3.6 million.
The athlete left Malawi for Kenya through Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe on Saturday evening.
He will be in Kenya for 22 days with all expenses, including golf attire, airticket, accommodation, food and partipartion fees paid for by Zamm Investment.
Zamm Investment general manager Zacharia Nyirenda in an interview on Saturday, said after being approached by Chidale they decided to assist as to support local talent.
“This is our first time to support the golf sport. We sponsor powerlifting annually and we also did sponsor schools sport a couple of years back. But this time we thought of sponsoring Chidale who has potential to put Malawi on the map. He will take part in four golf tournaments while there with the biggest being the Kenya Open. Through the Cool Drop brand, we have covered everything for his trip,” said Nyirenda.

He said though the support is once-off but depending on Chidale’s performance in Kenya, the company might assist him again.
“As a local brand, we make it our obligation to support and assist local sports. Chidale is a proven top golfer and can go places. Last year we also did support Kamuzu Barracks Football Club through the jersey sponsorship,” he said.
Chidale thanked Zamm Investment and promised to be the ambassador of the Cool Drop brand in Kenya.
“I am really excited with this sponsorship and will perform to my best. Without this support, it wouldn’t have been possible for me to fly to Kenya and realise my objectives as a professional golfer. I promise to represent the Cool Drop brand well,” he said.
Chidale, who is currently ranked 11th on the Kenya Open, said he first will have to.play qualifiers.
“They need 20 players in the final cut. Currently, I am ranked 11th but I will have to take part in the qualifiers and either defend my 11th position or finish in the top 20. There are over 50 golfers from all over Africa fighting in the qualifiers,” he said.
