At least 18 houses have been destroyed in Chiputula, Mzuzu City as a result of heavy rains that fell yesterday.

Chiputula Ward Councillor Hiwet Mkandawire confirmed the damage.

Mkandawire stated that affected families are now seeking shelter at Community Based Child Care Centers (CBCCs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs).

The councillor also mentioned that they are currently assessing the total value of the damaged properties.
