Well-known musician Skeffa Chimoto has denied social media reports that he is contemplating on joining frontline politics.

On Sunday Skeffa Chimoto of Chinamuluma Chakuda was spotted attending sitting on the high table at Malawi Congress Party (MCP) rally held in Nkhotakota.

His presence at the rally attracted speculations that the artist is planning to contest as MP on Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ticket in the district.

But Chimoto has quashed the claims, saying he was invited to the rally to perform and nothing else.

The musician said he was asked to sit at the high table to shift attention from where he was seated at first.

MCP wants Chimoto to represent the party in the district as MP in the forthcoming 2025 polls.
