A man has gone missing after being carried away by running water while attempting to cross a bridge in Neno, police confirm.

The man has been identified as Longine Banda and the incident happened on Sunday afternoon.

According to eye witness, Banda got swept away by the running water as he was attempting to cross Mtsimukire River.

Banda was coming from Matope Healther Center where he went to seek medical attention on undisclosed illness when he met his fate.

Neno police public relations officer Sub Inspector Austin Kamwendo confirmed receiving the reports and added that they are following the matter.

However, the mentioned bridge in Neno South Constituency got damaged two years ago.
