The Ministry of Agriculture has said over 1 million bags of fertilizer under the Affordable Input Programme (AIP) has been distributed to beneficiaries in the country.
According to the Ministry, a total of 1.5 million bags of both Urea and NPK fertilizer and 8600 metric tonnes of seed has been used by beneficiaries across Malawi.
Principal Secretary for Agriculture, Dickxie Kampani said the ministry has involved the Malawi Defense Force (MDF) to help in carrying the commodities to hard to reach areas during rainfall to avoid inconveniences.
Kampani added that, he has given the update to Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament where they were summoned to respond to audit queries.
The ministry admitted that the flow of inputs has not been as expected, but the Ministry is working tirelessly to resolve the problems.
