People from Nthalire in Chitipa will this weekend start accessing fertilizer under the farm input program (AIP).
National Unity Minister Timothy Mtambo confirmed that several trucks from Malawi Defence Force (MDF) started off yesterday from the Smallholder Farmers Fertiliser Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) depot in Mzuzu going to Chitipa.
According to Mtambo, a special warehouse will be created at Kapoka in Chitipa, whereby some inputs will have to be taken to different areas like Nthalire in the district.
“The MDF soldiers will have to be in Chitipa up to the time that this exercise is completed. We want to load as much Fertilizer as possible at Kapoka so that it becomes a central point.
“Let me assure people of Nthalire that Fertiliser will be there soon. I have also asked SFFRFM officials to come up with more selling points like at Mzimba and Karonga boma.”
An official at SFFRFM in Mzuzu, Loyce Potani said one thousand seven hundred and fifty NPK fertilizer bags have been sent to Nthalire.
According to Potani, they will have a backup from Liwonde, where trucks will be delivering direct to Kapoka, from where MDF soldiers will be taking the stock to Nthalire.
