Police in Nkhata Bay have expressed satisfaction with interventions implemented during the 2022 festive season.
Speaking in an interview yesterday, Nkhata Bay Police Station spokesperson Kondwani James said the interventions helped the district to register zero accidents and crimes.
He said: “During the same period in 2021, the district registered three road accidents.
“We intensified visibility and conducted patrols on land and along the lakeshore.”

James also commended volunteers for controlling people who were enjoying their holiday at Chikale Beach.
Mkumbira Area Development Committee chairperson Mabvuto Kaunda said they collaborated with the police in awareness campaigns on safety and security.
“We engaged motorcycle taxi operators [kabaza] to follow road traffic safety rules,” he said.
Matthias Banda, a resident at the boma, commended police for patrolling beaches and other public places.
“People commit crime during the festive season because of lack of security measures. I thank the police for putting in place strategies to contain crime and prevent accidents,” he said.
Banda also urged police not to stop patrolling public places and mounting roadblocks to prevent crime.
Police have since advised people in the district to observe road safety measures and work with them to combat crime in 2023.
