Minister of Transport and Public Works, Jacob Hara has revealed that his ministry will restore the M1 road section from Nsipe in Ntcheu to Balaka in the next financial year.

Hara said the second phase of construction will involve the Balaka-Liwonde-Zomba road section where a total of maintenance will take place, with financial support from the World Bank.

Executive Director for the Centre for Social Accountability and Transparency -CSAT, Willy Kambwandira, praised Hara for the plans he has.

According to Kambwandira, it is too early for the country to celebrate about the plans, as several budgetary allocations have been put in place in previous years with nothing tangible on the ground.
