Heavy Rains Affect Ntchisi District

Some households in the area of Traditional Authority Malenga in Ntchisi have been left homeless after heavy rains and strong winds destroyed their houses last night.

Village headman Geve of the area confirmed the incident saying it has caused much damage as him and other victims are seeking refuge in churches.

The heavy rains together with strong wind have also damaged classroom blocks at Kanjoka 1 and 2 as well as Kalulu Full Primary Schools.

Deputy Headteacher for Kanjoka 2 Full Primary School Innocent Alufeyo said authorities have advised them not to open the school.

Relief and Rehabilitation Officer for Ntchisi Ronnie Khangamwa said they are currently on the ground, assessing the situation.
