Mzimba Accident Update; Another Mary Mount student dies

Another student from Mary Mount has reportedly died adding the number of those who died from Mzimba horrific accident to two.

The student has been identified as a form three Thanthwe M’manjamwada.

According to reports she was admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH).

“Dear Parents. Devastating news just coming from Kamuzu Central Hospital is that we have just again lost Thanthwe M’manjamwada, another Form 3 student. She was in ICU at KCH,” read the statement.

The accident, claimed life of a 14 year old student Ruth Tembo and another one got her hand amputated.

Meanwhile, Malawi Police Service says it is going to charge and prosecute the driver of the bus involved in the accident once he has been discharged from the hospital.

National Police Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Peter Kalaya said preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the bus, Duncan Ngwende lost control of the bus due to speeding.

The Scania Iriza Bus, registration number SA 10038 belongs to Paniche Logistics and was carrying Mary Mount Girls’ Secondary School students from Lilongwe to Mzuzu.
