The M5 road has been washed away at Phakwe which is at a distance of 54 kilometers from Kaphatenga to Nkhotakota following heavy rains.

The move has rendered motorists using the road destitute.

Roads Authority spokesperson Portia Kajanga has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

Kajanga has since advised all the motorists to use the Nkhotakota – Kasungu Road, as a contractor who is rebuilding the road is attending to the affected spot.
