Northern Region Water Board (NRWB) Acting Chief Executive Officer Francis Munthali told the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament (PAC) that some public institutions owe them money.

Munthali said that some of the institutions are Malawi Defense Force (MDF) and Malawi Police Service (MPS) and they owe the NRWB money amounting to k2.9 million which had accumulated post the K4.2 billion payment.

According to Munthali, government has been engaged many times for another bail out.

PAC Chairperson Mark Botomani said it is sad that government institutions are failing to honor their bills.

Botomani said the challenges that the board is facing come due to  lack of proper debt collection mechanisms.
