Govt to plant 50 million trees in this year’s season

2022/23 national forestry season will be launched next week on December 23, 2022 in which 50 million trees are expected to be planted during this season.

Ministry of Natural Resources spokesperson, Frank Nkondetseni, said at least 29 thousand hectares are being targeted to be restored together with 9 thousand hectares of natural regeneration during the four months forestry season period.

According to environmentalists, Maloto Chimkombero, he is summoning for unceasing measures to make sure that the trees that will be planted survive.

During the previous 2021-22 national forestry season, the country planned to plant 40 million trees.
