National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) Trust has asked community and religious leaders in Thyolo District to champion mindset change for the country to achieve Malawi 2063 (MW2063) goals.
Speaking on Tuesday during the training, the district’s Nice civic education officer Moses Kaunda said mindset change is one of the enablers of MW2063, the country’s long-term development plan.

He said: “As influential leaders in your communities, you need to change people from their traditional way of thinking to modern thinking.
“Encourage people to embark on modern farming, businesses and other undertakings that can generate income to transform Malawi into a wealthy and self-reliant nation by 2063.”
Kaunda said for a long time, most Malawians have depended on government, organisations and well-wishers for support instead of working hard to meet their needs.
“This is bad. Now, we want people to use available resources and turn them into income-generating schemes to transform their lives,” he said.
Thyolo District Interfaith Alliance Committee chairperson Pastor Lloyd Somera thanked Nice for engaging them on mindset change.
“I too believe that for Malawi to achieve its aspirations, there is need for mindset change among its citizens,” he said.
Khwethemule Area Development Committee chairperson Paul Malunga said they will take the mindset change message to the people.
