The former ruling Democratic progressive Party (DPP) has reinstated Christopher Mzomera Ngwira as the party’s Northern region governor.
This is according to a press statement seen by this publication signed by DPP’s administrative secretary Francis Mphepo.
Mphepo said despite the fact that Mzomera Ngwira was convicted for abuse of office, it does not make him less qualified from holding the party’s position.
“The Party has also considered the exceptional performance with which Honourable Mzomera Ngwira executed his office as Regional Governor in the Northern Region, and has therefore re-instated him in his original position of Regional Governor in the Northern Region,” said Mphepo.
DPP the challenged Mzomera Ngwira to “rejuvenate the DPP to its former glory as you did when you last held the position of Regional Goerner in the Northern Region.”
Mzomera Ngwira was convicted for abuse of office but was later acquitted by the High Court.
