9 out of 20 suspects who were arrested for manhandling two elderly women in Mzimba have been released, police authorities have confirmed.
Earlier this week police in Mzimba arrested at least 20 in connection with physical assault of two women who were being accused of practicing witch craft.
The arrest followed a video clip that was widely shared on social media in which the angry mob forced an old woman to bury then dead on her own on the accusations that she killed her daughter in law (The one she was forced to bury) who until her death was staying in South Africa.
The sister to the accused offered herself to help and she was also subjected to the abuse.
Mzimba police station publicist peter Botha said the ones that have been released were not involved in the incident.
However, Botha said that investigations are continuing and more arrest are expected to be made.
