HAVING been expecting and preparing for only one baby, a 17-year-old Grade 10 pupil of Lyampako village in Kalomo and her family got a surprise when she delivered triplets on Monday.

The triplets are premature, and because they were unexpected, the family is asking for assistance to enable the teenage mother to adequately cater for their needs.

Otherwise, she feels blessed to have had three children at once.

“I am very excited and grateful that God has blessed me with three children,” the girl, who was impregnated by a fellow pupil, said.

When she gave birth at Nakalombwe Health Facility, the babies were weighing between 1 kilogramme and 1.5kg. They were later referred to Request Muntanga Hospital within Kalomo.
