An unexpected lightning has killed a Grade 9 pupil of Lupuka Primary School in Shangombo, Western Province, while 5 others are injured.

The incident is said to have happened on the eve of Independence Day during the preparation of meals for the national day celebrations.

A teacher at Lupuka Primary School, Kwalombota Situmbaeto, confirmed the incident to ZANIS and identified the deceased pupil as Sunday Liswaniso.

Mr Situmbaeto said three other pupils are admitted to Shangombo District Hospital following the incident.
