President Lazarus Chakwera has announced that soon he will be making changes to his cabinet.
Chakwera said this yesterday at Kamuzu palace during his nation address.
According to the Malawian leader, he cannot continue keeping people who do not have remarkable contribution to his government’s development agenda.
“The time for keeping people as ministers who allow incompetence, corruption and wastage to happen on their watch simply because the people doing it are their friends or members of their parties or alliance partners is past,” said Chakwera.
Chakwera said this immediately after he fired Lobin Lowe and Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima as minister and deputy minister of agriculture respectively.
The two have been fired following the mess with this year’s Affordable Input Programme (AIP) which saw the country being duped funds amounting to K730 million.
