Homeland Minister Orders ADMARC to allocate 25,000 bags of Maize to Zomba Prison

The Ministry of Homeland Security has ordered the Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (Admarc) to allocate 25,000 bags of maize to the country’s prisons, following reports that inmates at Zomba Maximum Prison have been living without food and water since Saturday last week.

Secretary for Homeland Security Oliver Kumbambe, says the funds have come from the budget provision of the Malawi Prisons Services.

ADMARC spokesperson, Agness Chikoko, has confirmed selling the grain.

Malawi Prison Services Spokesperson, Chimwemwe Shaba, has confirmed to have received the communication, saying they are expecting to get the said bags of maize from the grain trader.
