CHINESE MEDICAL TEAM TAKES SERVICES TO COMMUNITIES

Members of the Chinese Medical Team (CMT) working at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) together with Mzuzu Central Hospital (MCH) on Wednesday, conducted a day-long free clinic at Mtsiriza in Lilongwe.

Leader of the Chinese team, Dr. Zhong Hongping said, they are carrying a medical visit to African countries, responding to a call from the China National Health Commission.

Zhong and his team were happy for the exercise they had in Lilongwe and also for helping some patients.

”We are very happy to carry out the exercise to the residents of Mtsiriza and we will also make a donation of a batch of epidemic prevention materials and daily necessities to the local villagers on behalf of Chinese government,” Zhong explained.

The residents of Mtsiriza who attended the clinic applauded the Team’s free services saying people’s health issues were attended without having to walk all the way to hospital.

One of the patients, Pasulani Joseph said, I had pain in my joints and sometimes I felt dizzy but the doctors have examined me and they have assisted and advised me accordingly.”

The current CMT is 9th since the first team came to Malawi in 2008.

The team offers services in a number of fields such as internal medicine, surgical, paediatrics, obstetrics, anaethesiology and radiology at KCH and MCH.

In July, the CMT donated a batch of medical supplies to both referral health facilities on behalf of the Chinese government.
