NGO ENCOURAGES THE USE OF EMERGENCY PILLS

Anon-govermental organization has urged women and girls to use contraceptive methods especially emergency contraceptive pills after unprotected sex to avoid unwanted pregnancy which leads to unsafe abortion.

Women Global Care who is also a public health specialist Dr. Bridget Malewezi said most women are not using contraceptive method, in so doing they are engaging themselves into unwanted pregnancies.

Malewezi also said that unsafe abortion is bad and it is causing some diseases on women like fistula and cancer, and some are even losing their lives in the process of aborting. The emergency pills can help to prevent the unwanted pregnancies.

“We have launched MisoFem, Misomife-Fem Combo, and the post pill which is going to be one additional variety of brand of emergency contraceptive in the country,” said Walezi.

Malewezi further said that the idea of taking an emergency pill is aimed at providing options, we are not forcing any woman to take the pills if she is not will to do so.

If you take the emergency pill after 72 hours of sex it means the pill will not work in your body, and as you all know a lot of women are dying from unsafe abortion in this country and this help the situation in some ways,” said Malewezi

According to Malewezi, the products which were launched are available through woman care global’s partner and Intermed.
